Final update for 2018 and my knitting statistics

Knitting news!
I finished my first pair of cascade heritage prints socks on new years eve :)
I finally finished my flax jumper, pattern by tincan knits, knit with drops alaska in number 45 (light olive). I cast it off on 1st January 2019 but I'm counting it in my 2018 knitting statistics (only did 2" today so definitely think it deserves to be counted in last years knits).
I cast on a pair of birthday socks in the Yule colourway from felt fusion.
Spinning news! Finally! lol
I started spinning a small sample of fibre from fondant fibre in the Matilda colour. I'm hoping to spin along with Mel Browne crafting podcast for spinuary (as muchas possible at least).
I made a couple of macrame snowflakes :)
Goodies!
My mum asked me to arrange a suprise yarny gift box for Christmas, so I contacted Shadow at felt fusion. I asked for a Christmas at Hogwarts theme and I love what she put together :)
I did a Christmas swap with Mel (Bakewell_hearts) and these are the goodies she sent for me. Love her colour choices :)
2018 knitting statistics, I've finished:
33 pairs of socks, 11 toys, 15 hats, 5 pairs of mitts, 6 scarf/cowl/shawl/wrap, 3 baby garments, 5 Christmas pudding covers, 8 blanket squares/wash cloths, and 1 jumper (technically finished 1/1/19 but I'm counting it for 2018 as only did last 2" today) I've also done some macrame and embroidery :)
Happy Crafting!

Sunday 23 December 2018

I learnt some basic macrame :)

Knitting news!
Marie Curie socks with contrasting cuffs and toes in bubblegum and heels in butterscotch, sent to the flower power fund.
Honeycomb mitts for my son in the dead men tell no tales colourway by felt fusion. Sadly they are not close enough to his copper patina coloured antler mitts so he won't wear them lol even though I asked him and he said yes pinky ponk colour lol
Acht the octopus with a blue DK and rainbow fingering weight held together. Knit for a little boy on the rotary club Christmas tree. I love how I somehow managed to get all the legs to be with a different colour of the rainbow yarn, an accident but a happy one lol
Elf socks, knit with London house yarns in the elf colourway. I did the bootstrap pattern down the leg but didn't do the bootstrap heel.
Acht the octopus knit for a little girl on the rotary club Christmas tree.
Another pair of Marie Curie socks, this pair didn't get finished in time for the deadline but they will still find a worthy home and I did send 2 pairs to the flower power fund. These were knit with left overs from the previous pair, I used butterscotch for the cuffs and toes and bubblegum for the heels.
I made 2 ferrero rocher pudding covers for my sons escort and driver and 4 Terry's chocolate orange pudding covers for a friend.
My son requested and EDF energy toy, so I knit him one using the boo-yah pattern by Susan Claudino without the arms.
Embroidery news!
I made a seasons greetings hoop and gave it to Mel from the Mel Browne crafting podcast, whom I had the pleasure of meeting recently :)
I finished my aunts cushion cover, I can't remember if I shared this one. I did lavender sprigs in the middle with a single spring in each corner. I hope she likes it even though it's not quite central :)
Macrame!
When I met Mel she taught me some macrame knots and I made three key rings :)
She also very kindly sent me some macrame twine in one of my favourite colours :)
I used some of my anorak cord that I use as drawstring for bags to make a macrame bracelet, I'm really pleased with it :)
Hope you're all ready for the festivities.
Happy Crafting!

Thursday 22 November 2018

It's a long one, time escaped me, and there's sewing :)

I'm not sure why but time just seems to have escaped me lately. So apologies for the long post but here's what I've been making over the past coupleof months.
Knitting news!
I finished these socks and posted them to my friend, but sadly they (and another pair along with a 4 ocean bracelet were lost in the mail).
I made a baby wallaby cardigan with DK yarn for my cousins baby due next month. I love the colours :)
I made the Te Ka (Moana) socks, they're very hallowe'eny :) I also made the project bag I used for them :) I'm very happy to say I'm sewing fairly regularly, very basic but hoping to improve and one day try simple garments.
I made the Jemima socks with jellybeans yarns in the pumpkin patch colourway. This was the first pattern in the Miss Potter sock club by Kay F Jones of the bakery bears.
I made a DK fingerless mitt version of the speedy selbu mittens. I made mistakes but I'm happy with how they turned out :)
I made and sent off a pair of Marie Curie socks for the flower power fund. Basic toeup sock with a fish lips kiss heel.
I made the Peter socks with jellybeans yarns in the stormy weather colourway. This was the second sock in the Miss Potter sock club by Kay F Jones.
I made another cookie jar hat, this is with manos wool clasica and will be a gift. It's a bit snug on me but I seem to be the big headed family member so I'm hoping it'll fit the recipient.
I bought a petite sock set from London house yarn in the hocus pocus colourway, I should have halved the 50g of striped yarn coz I ended up with unintentional odd socks lol hope they're still liked lol
I'm working on a flax jumper for myself with drops alaska. I've done both sleeves and am now on the body (I'm knitting it the wrong way round lol).
I've cast on more socks for Marie Curie so my festive socks might be a bit late lol
Sewing news!
The first little drawstring bag I made following a tutorial series by Kay F Jones.
I've made hallowe'en and festive drawstring bags too :) I'm not including all the pictures coz there are a few lol
I made myself a swimming bag :) I used a stretch fabric on the outside but a good, thick cotton on the inside. The outer fabric has had some issues with the stitching pulling at the fabric and looking a bit rubbish. I was worried about it coming apart so I stitched a couple mm in from the seam to reinforce it, so it now looks a bit more rubbish but is holding up better to use.
Figured out how to make a drawstring bag with straps :) using bits of fabric from a fent bag of scraps. (Lots of squares pre-cut so plenty of bags in my future lol plus my obsession with fat quarters lol)
I then upscaled it to make a bigger bag with straps. Without interfacing it's a little flimsy but I hope it'll hold up to use, I did overlock the seams so fingers crossed it won't fall apart on my friend :)
I did the sides opposites, horizontal and vertical stripes of the same 3 colours.
Embroidery news!
I stitched the floral heart pattern by ohsewbootiful.
I made a cord to hang it.
I stitched the home sweet home pattern, also by ohsewbootiful.
And made another cord.
Picture to show cord weaving in progress.
Goodies!
My big pile of fabric from fent bags :) also bought some fat quarters in fun fabrics :)
My gifts off Natalie, we did a festive meet up with lots of goodies, it was so nice :)
Happy Crafting!

I used the first of my tits out collective yarns, clockwork corset by steampunk sheep yarns. I love how it knit up, and I made myself a cookie jar hat by Joeli creates.
My son wanted the 4 tentacled octopus from pocoyo, so I knit it for his birthday. I modified the dandy sir cephalopod pattern by Susan Claudino and used acrylic DK held single for legs and double for body.
